Pride of the Borough Oadby & Wigston

Here to help improve the local environment and support community activities. Please use the menu above to navigate the website and learn more about Pride of the Borough.

Pride of the Borough first met in 2003, and formed as a constituted group in 2004. We have 3 main aims:

  • to improve the local environment of Oadby, Wigston and South Wigston
  • to work with Oadby and Wigston Borough Council to support the
Borough’s entry into East Midlands in Bloom
  • to encourage and support community activities that will increase pride in our Borough

The group is made up of individuals, Friends of Parks, Civic Societies, Community Action groups, neighbourhood groups, Councillors and council officers who all work together to encourage people to take a pride in our Borough.
We meet regularly throughout the year to organise not only the East Midlands in Bloom entry but also floral display competitions.  We also support other environment based community activities.
We are all volunteers and are always looking for more like minded people to join us and in 2014 we introduced our Membership and Privilege Card to encourage all members with benefits offered by local businesses.  The sales of the card ensure we can continue to support the various community activities, more details here.

Meetings are normally held on the second Monday of each month, unless that falls on a bank holiday. There is no meeting in August. Dates of the meetings are available here.
